The following video, made in 1967, appears to be a faithful adaptation of the original play. The main actors did an excellent job of conveying the guilt and agony that Oedipus felt upon realizing what he had done. With that being said, the move seemed pretty “standard” and lacked the fundamental hook that would get movie goes to actually see the film. The extras in the background seem to stand there with no emotion, and during Oedipus’ speech not even the children showed emotion. I would think that at this pivotal moment emotions should be shown rampantly and the children should, at least, be crying.
